Half of us have been to Burning Man before. And I feel that as previous “Burners” we would like to ensure a warm welcome to our loved ones.
First timer or not.. we all need to read the following link.
If you are first timer… click here after you read the link above… it will save you a lot of time if you read the one above first, then this one below….
Here it is.. http://www.burningman.com/first_timers/
As you know…. the more we do thing together… the easier, the cheaper, the more joyful and loving experience.. or not.. it is what we create… it is what we reflect…
Below is our camp’s current status…
Apart from our own equipment and material… we need to have community equipment and material, space and transportation…
If you have any questions, text me, call me, or telepathy me…
So check it out..
We are joining an experienced and more established Burning Man Camp called Camposanto. This camp will provide space, kitchen, music stage, shower, communal shade, solar power energy, a few bicycles, some food and more… but most importantly water. Apart from bringing your own water, camposanto will provide 60% of water for the entire camp. For cooking, dishes, shower, teeth brushing and some drinking water as well. Personally, I am very excited to have joined Camposanto and to learn and live a beautiful experience… a more conscious experience.. as we are already.. sustainability to it’s maximum!!! all the process for this project is so fulfilling.
What we have / What we need
How much we have / How much we need
Shade Structure:
We need to create shade for ourselves. It is very very important. I had the opportunity to learn how to create it. The shade looks like a big triangle tent. We will set up our small sleeping tents inside this big tent. Our small tents will be like bedrooms, and spacious around to walk and hang out. This will protect us from the heat, from the sun, from the powerful dust-storms. It is crucial that we get this right… everything else is secondary, except for the water..
*Materials for shade structure:
(This is a estimate of costs, it could be a little more or less. )
At least 200’ ft. | Shade Cloth | $3-$6 a foot | Depends company and fabric |
1 | 12ft. long GAL pipe | $30.85 | Or 10” long.. works |
2 | 1 ¼ Floor Flange | $9.75 | |
120 ft. | Cable Rope Vinyl Coated | $0.36 per ft. | The total is about $43.20 |
4 packs | Cable-Rope Clamps | $1.98 per pack of 3
At least 12 | Rebars 2’-3’ long | $3.80 each
2 | 4 Piece Ratcheting Tie Down Straps | $14.00
1 full pack | Zipties | $ ? not expensive.. | Re-usable ones.. |
So there is 16 of us motherfuckers coming.. and this shade structure is good for 4 or 5 tents. Which means we need to copy this shade structure and create it 2 more times… so 4 from the 16 people will use one shade structure… or each 4 tents will. So ideally,.. it will be best to get all this material before I leave so we can load it on the sustainable bus we’ll be using… Provided by Audiopharmacy
If we can’t find these materials in a re-usable, or conscious way, then we don’t have a choice and have to get them at Home Depot or other major hardware store. The shade cloth is a little challenging to get… the following links are good examples of what fabric to get… it can be a little expensive. Calculate accurate amount of feet… at least 180-200 feet. We will need other types of fabric to create another layer underneath.. it could thin bed sheets.. or chals… that would work well.. please keep finding, get the money together and have them ship it asap… you want this fabric to go on the bus this coming Sunday 19th .
It is a good investment for a self-sufficient community on-the-go.. So I believe that if we all pitch in some money… we can make it happen smooth…
*Tools:
Camposanto provides some tools. If you have tools, bring some basic… I personally think we need this one below.. it is kind of dangerous if we don’t be careful with our rebars.
Rebar Bender | $33.00 | (Electrical Area with different name) home depot |
Transportation:
So from above this letter.. you have an idea who is going on what dates… please plan accordingly and communicate with each other as much as possible to make it to your destiny safe and in a fun way… remember to not arrive to burning man in the day time.. whether you like or not, you will hit traffic.. and you would prefer to hit traffic in the night time.. it’s a lot more refreshing then in the day time heat…
So we got $100 raised so far from our FundParties.. hell yea!! We need to keep working for ore because we will need it..
So, for transportation… I will be driving a huge bus to Bunring Man on Sunday the 19th.. to arrive early morming on the 20th.. This means that all of us have a huge bus to fill up with all our equipment, shade structure, bikes, bags, clothes, tables, fabrics, etc.. you bring it, we take it.. this will make everyone’s trip, lighter and easier.. please tag all your stuff so I can recognize and organize everything over at the desert..
Bus 21 seater | $800 for 2 weeks | Biodeisel & Solar Energy |
Practice going to Burning Man
We will create a simulated burning man trip. Which means we will go to the park and build our camp as of we where at the desert… We will all learn how, what when who, why, where, weeeee…. If we have to do it again then we will.. the more we practice before our departure.. the less we struggle at the destination..
First Attempt to set up camp: this Thursday 10am, Golden Gate Park..
Second Attempt to set up camp: this Saturday 10am Same location (TBC, Depends on first attempt)
So, please remember the following points we need to work on this week 24/7
- Shade Structure
- Practice Set Up
- Raising funds
- Traveling dates
- Tickets in hand
- Personal Camp/Survival Gear)
So, in order to have a smooth experience for all 16 people.
- We need 3 shade structures
- We need a huge bus to load in
- A Bike for sure.. if u haven’t yet.. still a chance below http://www.renobikeproject.com/
Total estimated cost is $1,600 for our material and transportation… except the fabric for the shade. Just the shade clothe could cost somewhere around $600-$800 for each structure.. However, we will still buy the pipe and other material if we can’t afford getting the shade clothe… so then we need to use what we have…. And find…. bed sheets.. re-used bed sheets from craigslist or thrift stores.. other kinds of thin fabrics work… as long as you bring something… we will put it together and it will definitely save our asses….
$1,600 divided by the 16 of us… $100 each.. if you can collaborate with that before departure time, great…. if not, then anytime later when we come back would be fine… We are still raising funds so that will help us a lot and can cover extra expenses too..
And lastly… since we are joining an established camp, in which will help us in so many ways.. They suggest camp dues… of $150 per person… however, I know some of us can’t afford that.. though any amount will help… any conscious amount.. and if monetary help is not possible.. then what ever you feel like contributing with.. a poem perhaps? most importantly.. the goal is for all of us to be present at this time and enjoy a intense life experience…
Lots of love!!!!
