*EMERGENCY – Community Safety Plan
At our dinner, we discussed the importance of preparing for safety. Some of us were not too connected with the idea, it seemed that it wouldn’t be necessary. The question is… if it isn’t, then why is the city we live in prepared for it, or any city and country per say. Below, are very helpful sites with valuable information on how to prepare for a disaster as an individual and as a community. Personally, I would like to have a family/community to feel safe with and have each other’s back. As there is the “saying” that exists… “better safe than sorry… “
It could take at least 3 days for services to be restored after a disaster. Experts suggest to be self-sufficient for at least that time…
New York is still recovering from it’s disaster a month ago…

I believe, that if we prepare a camping bagpack for 3 days… for it to be just ready to be picked up and go, it would make a big difference. And afterwards have plan to meet with the family. Even better.
*COMMUNITY GARDEN
So, we already know that having a community garden is crucial, we have been trying to establish since june 2012, which we started one and unfortunately it had to be broken down due to building permits because it was at a roof top.
At the dinner, we mentioned that we can plant seeds where ever we will have our dinners. However, we also realized that if we focus in one location we can complete the project as well as maintaining it. Having several small gardens in each of our homes, might be a little difficult to keep track of. Specially, if we don’t have experience.
- It is a decent size space. Length is 14’ and width is 5’. The walls are 7 feet tall.
- There is a garden supply store across the street.
- And it is conveniently close for me to maintain it and keep track of it.
This project is going to begin onSaturday, December 8th at 4pm. It will be great if most of you can come, as we could finish it all in one day. We will be rolling up our sleeves and getting dirty because this is going down!!! Please bring the following equipment if you have or you know someone that might:
- Shovel
- Drill
- Circular Saw
- Gloves
- Rain Coat
*PROJECTS IN 2013
At our last dinner, we had a lot going on, not enough time and missed the opportunity to share our visions for next year. I would love it if we can make this happen for our next dinner. Which means, that if we can come prepared for that… it would be awesome!!!
Below are a couple of projects that I believe are necessary for our family/community to keep in mind, to discuss and to accomplish:
- Establish a Community Space
- Create a Community Video about what we are doing and want to do/ Kickstarter video
- Become a Non-Profit organization
*BURNING MAN 2013
Wow!! Did you guys check out the theme for next year? It’s going to be insane..!
Though, is everyone going? Personally, I am not sure yet… it is a lot and lot and lot of work and surely is a lot and a lot and lot of money… I believe we can use all that energy and money here for our own projects which also have a lot of value in this planet and in our lives… However, if most of us really really really want to go (at least one more time) and everyone is very motivated to work really really hard for the community and to create the craziest things that we didn’t know we can do… then in that case I am down, in which we will have to start preparing right “now”… like creating ways to raise funds for us not to use money from our pockets… It will definitely be cheaper for us this time since we have most of the equipment already for it. Personally, I am happy to say that every year is becoming easier and cheaper to go to burning man as more people join the experience. The more people together, the easier and cheaper… just like any community anywhere in the world…
Which all this reminds me, and would like to take advantage of this opportunity to send a friendly reminder to some of you about some overdue cash from our previous Burning Man 2012 experience… Which was an unforgettable and wonderful one… (if you were not part of this experience, it is not necessary to continue reading below)
There is 2 things I believe in my life: Nature and Family… and I would anything to take care of that… However, and unfortunate to say… I can’t afford to take all the responsibility of our expenses… we spent Total: $2,374.62 which is nothing for all the commodities and arrangements we had… all the details of our expenses are found in our blog here…http://blog.collectivewave.org/?p=258 Today, this amount went up to $2546.62 due to our storage space that we are renting to keep all our burning man equipment: rugs, bikes, fabrics, tools, rebar’s, shade structure material, tools and much more.. We all bought these things and need storage space. I included the first 2 months with the first amount above, thinking we will find a warehouse space to move to soon enough… now I am paying $86 a month which is included in the second total amount above. Storage space has been paid for the last 4 months since we arrived and needs to be taken care of… Below is a the list of the family-crew that attended burning man 2012 as Collective Wave Camp joining Camposanto Camp… I know some of you have paid already… though, there is a difference from the last 2 months of storage rent which is $172 . Those that paid the previous balance, excluding the 3 spanish friends.. it would be an extra $15.6 per person. And the final amount per person for those who haven’t paid yet is: $169.61

Not to mention, the accident we had with Juancho was an extra $1,024 from my pocket. It would be great if there is a family contribution towards that… It is hard to get hit with unexpected expense like that. It will be very much appreciated…
I really apologize for all this “money asking moment”. I know we are all tight and struggling… However, this is a reminder and when ever it is possible to forward some of this cash to me, it would be very much appreciated. NO pressure…
Thanks again, see you soon! Big hug!!!
