Familia!!! We keep moving forward in a productive and fun way. Non-stop! There were 10 of us at the last dinner and happy to see some of you that didn’t have the opportunity to come to the previous dinners. It is great to see that everyone is still trying to make it… Still more to come!
*Projects
Community Garden: At the “SandBox” last dinner, our first step to start working on building the structure for our garden was to make it accessible and safe. Therefore, it was necessary to build a staircase to the rooftop. It was really fun to learn how to make one. Thank you Brian!
Our next step will be to build the boxes in which will allow us to start planting our seeds. For our dinner at the “SandBox” (Tuesday, July 3rd) we will need: Soil, Seeds of any kind that you find possible to plant outdoors and easy to take care of. We will have a more clear understanding on how to start after our next dinner (Friday, June 29th) at Lauren’s placeEden Garden (Lower Haight) in which we will meet her in order to start working together. She has a space with a garden that she started on her own and needs some help with as well as we need some help starting our own.
Afterhour Dining Event:Last week we agreed that we will have an afterhours dining event on July 14th and planned to meet today, June 27th to find some restaurant supplies, such as: cutlery, linens, etc… We were also meeting today to view a space for rent on 22ndSt. between Valencia and Mission. It’s a space were there was a hookah business before. It’s small, though it is a great location and great for us to start any business we have in mind. We met with the son of the landlord, which showed us the space. We really liked it, and found that this is what we have been looking for. Originally we wanted to work with “Afterhour Dining Events” in order to gain experience and funds to eventually have a legal restaurant here in the city. Though, due to this new opportunity we don’t need to anymore. This space is perfect for us to start with. However, we find it very important to give all our energy to it. Therefore, we have decided to stop the “Afterhour Dining Event” and focus just on this new space. We will work day and night to make this happen.
Underground Indoor Soccer Event: As you know, our soccer event is on the move… We got a gym confirmed for us to use. We will have our first event on Friday, July 6th from 7pm-10pm. The earliest we can be there to set up is 6:30pm. Therefore we will need help to set up, such as:
- 2 sound system installers (David Saenz Confirmed)
- 2 light installers (Joshua Confirmed)
- 2 to 3 Dj’s (Monchis Confirmed for one hour)
- 3 Referees (Joshua)
- 2 Photographer/Videographer
Supplies to buy:
- Vests
- Fabrics to wrap around legs & arms
- Black light Make up
- Black light 7 color panels (Bought already)
- Whistle
- Ball
- Tape/Other to form lines
- Nets
Tasks for the event:
- Prepare a 6 team tournament
- Prepare a waiver for players to sign
- Prepare an invitation for the players/teams
Please, let me know if you would be able to come help and be part of this experience.
Documentary: As I mentioned before, we would like to document our moves… document our transition from one way of life to the one we want to live… creating and establishing a self-sufficient, sustainable and conscious family/community. Writing our process is a big step and allows us to be organized and keep track of what we are doing. Right now we are working on enhancing this understanding using, photography, videography, music and other arts that you would like to express yourself with… By doing this, we will all have the opportunity to share our visions and messages, plus help each other create.
Burning Man Camp: Its getting close! The Man burns in 65 days. We need to act! I am personally creating what Thomas (Camposanto Founder) has created… a personal – on the go donation bucket… I will be taking it everywhere I go and will talk to everyone about our Burning Man Project, which is to establish a camp by solar energy and provide the community a stage for anyone that would like to book a performance, plus we will also create a dance floor as a glow in the dark soccer field surrounded with a sound system, for either dance parties or soccer tournaments.
