Community Art Space

As we all, individually have different ideas about providing for the community, we find (As we mentioned in previous updates) that it is important for us to have a space to do so. We are all talented and experts in our own fields, growing experts of our own lives. Together we can share a space where we will all work for what we want, a better community for us all providing a true service, product or any form of expression that will help society move forward.

We have viewed the space for rent on 22nd St. between Valencia and Mission. It’s a space were there was a hookah business before. It’s small, though it is a great location and great for us to start any projects and provide for the community. We met with the son of the landlord, which showed us the space. We really liked it, and found that this is what we have been looking for, specially since we were looking into huge spaces earlier this year, which would of been a huge commitment..  This is an opportunity to start small and in a great location. Something we can handle no problem. Originally, we wanted to create a “Afterhour Dining Event” in order to gain experience and raise funds to establish our community legally. Though, due to this new opportunity we don’t need to go through that step. This space is perfect for us to start. However, we find it very important to give all our energy to it. Therefore, we have decided to stop the “Afterhour Dining Event” and focus just on this new space. We will work day and night to make this happen.
What we have in mind in order to generate money and keep flowing and growing.. is to provide healthy homemade soups, coffee, tea, kambucha and perhaps local wine in the future, depending on permits.
This space will be for art exhibits, workshops, spoken word, poems, solo musicians, educational projects for kids and more…
As we establish, we will apply for grants and will have donations to keep moving forward as an educational space for the community.
Currently, we are writing down a non-profit business plan for Collective Wave for legal purposes. We will have partnership agreements and a full understanding of what we can do, and how we can make it all happen.
Our next step in order to establish this community space is to meet with the owner and provide him a proposal with our applications to rent the space. There is 4 of us that will commit fully to legally start this project. However, more of us are welcome to join as soon as we establish, keeping in mind the family/community we are already and the fact that we will be working together regardless.
